Ohio Wheat Acres, USDA Jan 10, 2014

Ohio winter wheat seeded area for 2014 is estimated at 630,000 acres, a decrease of 9 percent from last year, according to the USDA, NASS, Great Lakes Office. Winter Wheat seeding began in mid-September and was completed by early November. At the end of November, 85 percent of the crop was rated good-to-excellent.

U.S. winter wheat seeded area for 2014 is expected to total 41.9 million acres, down 3 percent from 2013. Approximate class acreage breakdowns are: Hard Red Winter, 30.1 million; Soft Red Winter, 8.44 million; and White Winter, 3.39 million.
